Five Generations in the Woods

The roots behind Foster Land & Timber.

Foster Land & Timber brings generations of Foster logging experience into a broader land and timber solutions company. Built alongside Terry Foster Trucking, LLC, our work is backed by the family, equipment, and woods-tested knowledge that have shaped timber projects for more than two decades.

Roots in the Woods

Long before Foster Land & Timber or Terry Foster Trucking, LLC, there was a family trade. Terry Foster grew up in the woods, learning logging from his father and grandfather. It was work learned young and learned by doing — peeling popple by hand, working around saws, watching the older generations read timber, and understanding early that good logging was more than cutting trees.

The Next Generation

The Foster Boys

As the next generation grew, logging remained part of Foster family life. Terry’s sons — Derek, Travis, Todd, and Troy — were raised around the woods, equipment, trucks, long days, and timber jobs. The family was never new to cutting. The work had always been there, carried forward through private sales, family jobs, side work, and years of hands-on experience.

Terry Foster Trucking, LLC

More than two decades ago, Terry built Terry Foster Trucking, LLC. The company name came later than the work itself. By then, the family already had years of logging, hauling, private timber sales, equipment knowledge, and practical woods experience behind them.

Early Logging Years

Hand Cutting & Private Sales

For years, the work was built the old-school way: hand cutting, small private timber sales, family-owned jobs, and long days in the woods. Those years shaped the judgment behind the work — how to read a stand, protect access, work difficult ground, and understand what a good cut should leave behind.

Growing the Operation

Around 2015, logging became a larger and more intentional part of the family operation. The Foster boys were cutting timber, running pull skidders, and taking on more woods work as the business continued to grow. It was not the beginning of the family’s logging experience — it was the point where that experience began expanding into greater capacity.

State & Federal Forestry Work

As the operation continued to grow, the family expanded into larger state and federal forestry management jobs. That chapter brought more structure, more scale, and more complex timber work — including teams of harvesters and forwarders, buncher capabilities, trucks, lowboying, and the equipment coordination required to support larger forestry projects.

Today

Still Family. Still in the Woods.

Today, Foster Land & Timber carries that experience into a broader land and timber solutions company. Built alongside Terry Foster Trucking, LLC, our work is backed by the family, equipment, and woods-tested knowledge that have shaped timber projects for more than two decades — with Terry, his sons Derek, Travis, Todd, and Troy, and the fifth-generation grandsons, Trey and Braden, continuing the work forward.

The next generation is already watching and learning. Terry’s grandchildren, ranging from 7 years old to 15, and great-grandchildren are growing up around the same woods, equipment, stories, and work ethic that shaped the generations before them. Whether they choose logging or not, they are part of a family whose roots run deep in timber.
